Crailinghall Farm
The Barbour family of Crailinghall Farm in the Scottish Borders supply JW Galloway with homebred Aberdeen Angus cross and Charolais cross cattle.This mixed arable and beef farm produces nearly all the food required for the cattle on farm with only a small amount of supplementary feed and minerals being bought in. The family have recently started utilising GPS technology on the farm, where detailed soil nutrient information allows the Barbour family to make informed management decisions and have reduced their reliance on buying in artificial fertiliser, a benefit both financially and environmentally.
The Glenkilrie Farm
The Houstoun family from Glenkilrie Farm in Highland Perthshire supply JW Galloway with Lamb. The sheep flock are run extensively with the ewes spending most of their time out on the hill and the majority of lambs being fattened naturally off grass and forage rape. Part of the farm is within the Cairngorms National Park and the family are committed to producing quality Scotch Lamb with a farming system designed to work in harmony with the environment to ensure long term sustainability both financially and environmentally.
